My Family

As a kid, one of the things I liked most about going to the theater was reading the descriptive list of who all the characters were in the play. I suppose a blog is similar, at least in that my family are characters in the every day drama of my life that I write about. Since I speak about them so often, I thought I should introduce my family.

My husband. The most patient man on earth. Great listener, wonderful father, generous friend. We met at a birthday party, got to know each other at a coffee shop, moved in together after two months. When we first met, I loved his spontaneity and laid back style. Sometimes those qualities make me crazy now, but they're qualities I lack and need more of. One more reason he's so good for me. Thank goodness for him. Had I not recognized that he was the one for me, my life would be so much less full. He has pulled me out of some very dark places, stood by me, understood me when no one else could. Quite simply, I love him with all my heart.

My little man. My first born. Sweet, sensitive, mischievous and very, very funny. Loves playing music and being the center of attention. Would rather be with mommy than do anything else in the world. Inclusive, welcoming, kind hearted. Falls asleep with his flashlight on, surrounded by books every night. Wakes in the middle of the night for a snuggle. His middle name is Dean, named for his late grandmother, Doris. Traded in his princess costumes for pirates and policemen, but can still rock a mani/pedi with the best of them!

My baby girl. Princess. Little mama takes care of everyone. An attorney in the making -- renegotiates every deal and argues her point until her opposition caves. Wise, focused, thoughtful. Refuses to eat with her fork. Went three months wearing the same dress every day (and occasionally every night, too). A true girly girl, but loves to build and climb and play with the boys also. Her middle name is Shanti, a sanskrit word meaning "peace". Currently obsessed with Rapunzel, Tinker Bell and Cinderella; much to mommy's chagrin. So much like her mama that it's kind of scary sometimes. Loves her kitty, Ivy. Says she wants to be a mommy when she grows up. A mommy with triplets. Lord help her.
